Memoir Poems

A Bad Summer

By: Ryan Gillette

Last summer
An accident at a street corner

Walking distance
From my house

Two SUV's
Collided at
The intersection
Like two football
Players at the endzone.

The man who ran the
Stop sign

Had no belt on
His body flew threw
The air like a dead
Cat my brother threw
In a dumpster once.

Only he didn't land on a heap of garbage like the cat
He landed in the ditch
Like a soldier in the cold war

It wasn't his fault he died
Like those solders

He had a heart attack

He also
Had a family

Like the soldiers
And
The cat

A Painful Memory

By: Monica Lanphear

The dogs barking,
Dad went to investigate.
A howl like a dog in pain.
Standing on the deck watching him,
He crept to the barn,
Went inside.
The light flickered on.
He didn't come out.
Mom and I slunk to the barn,
Only to see him walking out.
He said it wouldn't be long.
He trudged to the house.
In the barn I saw a dog.
A dog as striped as a tiger.
Its chest rising,
Falling.
Its expression terrified,
Tired.
Dad returned.
The barn floor and my memory are still stained.

Baseball

By: Noe Sanchez

2 years ago my friends came over to my
House to play baseball

The game was fine until
I got up to bat

My little cousin threw the
Ball and I swung my bat

The ball flew and it
Hit him in the private

This time my friend was
Up to bat

As my brother flung
The ball my friend swung the bat

The ball was hit hard
But it flew into my brother's private

Couple times I went to bat
And my friend went to bat

We hit the ball with great
Force like our life depended on it
All accidents but by the end
Of the day my brothers were crying.

Bike Riding

By: Lucia Alavarez

Bike riding
At age 6
Brother ran over me
Scraped my elbow and knee
Started to cry
Mom came
Helped me up
And cured my cuts.

The First Game

By: Codey Batey

I was so excited
At my first football game
My family was there
They were shouting
For me to do my best
I made my first tackle
My family was cheering
I was pumped like a caged animal
Waiting for my next tackle.

Babygurl

By: Ashley Lawrence

She's the coolest dog,
Loving, caring, and energetic.
She's outside,
I called her,
Babygurl didn't come.
A car squealed,
Sped through our driveway.
They hit her.
Her tongue was white,
Her hip bleeding,
On the way to the vets.
Babygurl didn't make it,
As the vet said,
She's gone.

Exploring

By: Austin Garcia

Walking, wandering
The leaves crunching
Under my shoes
I froze, realized
That I was lost,
I tried to remember
But nothing,
I started to run
I was like a rabbit
Being chased by a fox
I saw a house,
I'm home,
Home sweet home
