Space Math

Some people "shoot for the stars",

but Space Math "shoots for Mars".

On March 22nd, the 7th grade space math class completed a successful space mission to Mars at the Kalamazoo Valley Space museum.  Throughout the mission the students both excelled individually and as a team to triumph over all the adversities of the harsh red planet. Here are some pictures of the students during the simulation.

Navigation Team: Using triangulation to decide on a flight path.

"I think we should have taken a left at Orion's belt."

Probe Team:  Building a probe to launch to Phobos.

"Hey Wes, the red wire connects to what?"

Communication/Data Team:  Keep Mars control in contact with the S.S. Blackhawk.

"Houston, we have a problem."

A great oppurtunity and an eye opening experience for all the students to use the educational skills they learn in school to complete this interactive mission to Mars.

"It's one small step for man, one giant leap for the 7th grade class."
