POSITION:                       6th-12th Grade Band

 

POSTING PERIOD:          April 24, 2006 until filled

 

QUALIFICATIONS:         1.   K-12th grade Band certification (JX or JQ)

                                                                       
                                          2.  Must be Highly Qualified as defined by

                                                the Michigan State Dept. of Education.

RESPONSIBLE TO:         Jody Martin

                                          Middle School Principal

 

JOB GOAL:                      To instruct 6th-12th grade students in concert band, marching

                                           band, competitive marching and jazz band. 

                                         

                                   
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Provide band education for Fennville Middle and High School students.

           
2.         Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids using “best practice”

            strategies including “discovery” learning methods.

 

3.         Provides opportunities when needed for individualized and small group

            instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

4.         Relate musical education to physical world.

 

5.         Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

 

6.                Evaluates each pupil’s progress using district approved grading systems.

 

7.         Communicates with parents via phone calls, notes and Edline.

 

8.         Positive contributions to the grade level team and willingness to participate in

            grade level projects.

 

9.         After school and weekend activities are an important part of this position, ie.

             booster meetings, evening rehearsals, summer camp, marching competitions,

etc.

 

10.       Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
